Sweden midfielder Albin Ekdal will miss Hamburg's final game of the season this weekend after suffering a "laceration" in an incident at a nightclub, his club confirmed. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder had to be treated in hospital after receiving the injury last Saturday night and will sit out Hamburg's final league game of the season at Augsburg this Saturday.

The club did not specify where Ekdal was cut. An ankle injury in October meant Ekdal has been restricted to just 14 league appearances this season for Hamburg, but he is set to be named in the provisional Sweden squad for Euro 2016 on Wednesday.
