Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho's provisional 30-day suspension for failing a drugs test expired with European football's governing body UEFA set to make a disciplinary decision in the coming days. The 26-year-old French international defender tested positive for a fat burner after Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Europa League on March 17.

"The suspension of Mamadou Sakho which ran until May 28, or this Saturday, has reached its term. It wasn't extended because a decision by the disciplinary authority is expected in the coming days," a UEFA spokesman told AFP. Liverpool made Sakho unavailable for selection after the charge, and the Frenchman missed their final seven fixtures, including the Europa League final defeat by Sevilla.
