Football - Bastia sack coach Printant, assistant steps up

Ghislain Printant has been sacked as coach of Bastia, with the Ligue 1 side moving quickly to appoint his assistant François Ciccolini as his replacement on an interim basis. Printant leaves with the Corsican outfit hovering three points above the relegation zone following last weekend's 1-0 loss to Guingamp, their 11th defeat of the campaign.

"Ghislain Printant is no longer in charge of the professional team," Bastia announced. "The post has been given to François Ciccolini until the end of the season," the statement added. Printant was appointed in November 2014 as successor to Claude Makelele, who was also sacked after defeat to Guingamp.
