Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya has joined Real Betis on loan till the end of the season, the European champions confirmed on Monday. Montoya had been on loan at Inter Milan, but that deal has now been cut short to allow him to join La Liga strugglers Betis.

"Barcelona and Betis have reached an agreement for the loan of Martin Montoya until June 30, 2016, rescinding the contract in place with Inter Milan," Barca said. Montoya, 24, won two league titles with Barcelona after coming through the club's famed youth academy, but failed to dislodge Dani Alves as the club's first-choice right-back. He made just four appearances since joining Inter last July.
