Congolese international Thievy Bifouma will play in the Spanish top flight again this season after joining Granada on loan from Espanyol. "Granada Football Club informs that an agreement has been reached with RCD Espanyol for a year-long loan with an option to buy Thievy Bifouma," the Andalusian club said in a statement.

Premier League champions Chelsea have pipped Manchester United to the signing of Spain winger Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona, British press reports said. The BBC reported Chelsea had agreed a fee of £21 million (29.8m euros, $32.9m) with the European champions and Pedro, 28, was on a flight to London to finalise the terms of the transfer.

English Premier League side Leicester City announced on Wednesday they have signed Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler from Napoli. Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has already signed N'Golo Kante from French club Caen to beef up his midfield options. Inler joins for an undisclosed fee ahead of Saturday's Premier League visit of Tottenham.

Spanish coach Michel has been appointed by Marseille as the successor to Marcelo Bielsa. "It is official. Jose Miguel Gonzalez del Campo is the coach of OM," Marseille announced on their Twitter feed. Marseille did not confirm the length of deal agreed with the former Spanish international winger, who won 66 caps, but newspaper La Provence reported he could sign a two-year deal.

Marseille winger Florian Thauvin has signed a five-year deal with Newcastle, the Premier League club announced. The 22-year-old French Under-21 international passed a medical and committed to the club until 2020. As part of the deal his compatriot Remy Cabella heads the other way on a season-long loan after an unsuccessful spell for the French international in England following his 10million euro (£7m, $11.1m) move last year -- Marseille have the option to buy him next summer.

Goals from Rodrigo, Dani Parejo and Sofiane Feghouli handed Valencia a 3-1 advantage going into the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Monaco at the Mestalla on Wednesday.
